About Island Rab
Located in the northern Adriatic, Rab is one of Croatia’s most distinctive islands — both for its rich history and its natural beauty. The island’s crown jewel is the town of Rab, instantly recognizable by its skyline marked by four Romanesque bell towers. Dating back to antiquity, Rab has a well-preserved medieval old town filled with stone streets, noble palaces, and ancient churches. Walking through its historic core feels like stepping into a living museum, especially during the Rab Medieval Festival, when the town revives its glorious past with costumes, crafts, and archery.
But Rab isn’t just about history — it’s also famous for its beaches, especially rare sandy bays like Rajska Plaža (Paradise Beach) in Lopar, perfect for families and gentle swims. The island’s diverse landscapes include pine forests, rocky cliffs, and tranquil coves ideal for sailing, hiking, and biking. Rab is also a proud bearer of a long naturist tradition, as it was one of the first places in Europe to openly welcome naturist tourism — even King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson famously bathed here in 1936.
Whether you’re drawn by history, beach days, or active adventures, Rab offers a harmonious mix of culture, comfort, and unspoiled island charm.
