About

The 20 km long Ucka Nature Park in eastern Istria is particularly popular for multi-day hiking tours, because the summit of its mountain range falls or rises – depending on whether you come from the south or start in the north. Starting the tour in the south is for the ambitious, who want to climb an even higher point every day.

You start at Mount Sisol at 835 m and fight your way up to the summit of Vojak with its 1401 m on the last day. In between, the tired feet are refreshed in the clear springs and relaxing shadows can be found in the river beds milled into the karst rock.

In contrast to the remaining mountains of the coast, which are largely left entirely to nature, the Ucka landscape is consistently relatively densely populated. The highest villages can even be found at 950m! There, in Vela and Mala Ucka, the shepherds and farmers will provide you with delicious delicacies that they have produced themselves, but there is also a hut for refreshment in the rest of the nature park.
If you do not want to walk up and down for several days but just want to enjoy the fresh air, the cool breeze and the bright sunshine, the best way to do this is on one of the not to be missed and well-signposted hiking trails.
