The Medvednica Nature Park is located in the immediate vicinity of the Croatian capital Zagreb. But the park with the luxurious castles in the middle of the forest is not only popular with the population of the big cities as a romantic day trip. Many tourists also save a day or two from the sightseeing program to discover sights of a completely different kind here: numerous rare animals and plants reproduce splendidly in the largely self-sufficient nature and they also like to share the cozy spots at waterfalls and river courses with the visitors.
In addition to nature trails, the park administration also offers bike paths for faster exploration of the region and even the opportunity to adopt a real bat – and thus protect it. The best thing to do is to choose the nicest one when you visit the Veternica cave. A park employee will be happy to show you a small part of the more than seven kilometers long tunnel system – the rest belongs to the bats!
